Hi Lucy. Really delighted with what you have done with The Shadow Inside, thank you.

I remember you showed and interest in the Shozam festival coming up in February. The hub of the event is Showzam Central in the Winter Gardens, which is a re creation of the old side shows (The Headless Lady, Girl in a Fishbowl, etc) using actors. Posted link below. Could be a recording oppertunity. Let me know if you are interested or able to pop up and I will put you in touch with the organiser, Vanessa. You may need permission to record.

Hi

CAMAC was great for me. I had a huge studio space and was inspired by the rural and remote landscape. I was also very lucky to be surrounded by so many other inspirational artists from across the globe. I stayed for a month and that was just about right for me. The group decided to have an open studio event at the end of our stay to exhibit our work and invite the locals.

I had a great time. If you need any specific equipment, make sure you take it with you and dont rely on the organisation to have it (I think that goes for any residency!)

Good luck!

Many thanks for your help. Portability not a problem and finances always are ... so I'll try the DIY approach for starters.

Best Regards

Hi Barry

I did buy a cheap parabolic reflector from Wildeye, during one of the sound recording courses. Although this didnt come with a handle to hold the mic in position, it just had a hole. We ended up using a coat hanger to hold two omni directional mics. It worked ok and I would recommend it to someone who is just starting out as the price difference is quote large.

I brought the Telinga because it was lighter, more robust and could be folded while travelling.

Hope this helps.

Did you try a DIY parabolic reflector (e.g.Wildeye) before the Telinga? If so any advice much appreciated on using DIY approach or purchasing Telinga.

Best Regards

We have worked with Dallas Simpson before http://www.spiresandsteeples.com/ListenHere/ and would be keen to do a similar project for the coast, perhaps as a pod cast or as an Ap or other format people can access on their phone at locations along the coast. We are particularly keen to do as Listen Here has done - partner accessible sound experience, like reminiscence and song, with creative sound interpretive piece.
